Phoenicia chez JKLM

[Phoenicia]

Empires rise and fall. In the buffer areas and crossroads between civilizations, however, a clever ruler can sometimes adopt new ideas, establish trade, and found a city state – such as the great Phoenician cities of Tyre and Sidon – that will outlast many neighboring empires. Phoenicia about building an empire worthy of an entry into the annuals of time. you have to build up your economy and increase your population whilst holding all others at bay, you will be challenged your neighbouring countries to the next technology advancement which will help you to feed your population.

Les différents commentaires vu ça et là me font saliver:

Every Gathering of Friends, it’s the same routine: I pester Tom Lehmann for a game of Phoenicia and he is always happy to accomodate me. This truly is one of my favorite games of all time and I can’t tell you how excited I am that it will finally be published, particularly by a fine company like JKLM. The game takes as its inspiration the classic American design of Outpost (just like the excellent Das Zepter von Zavendor does). But Tom has streamlined the mechanics so wonderfully, balanced the game so perfectly, and added so many of his own innovations that the parent is only faintly recognizable. The game is one of valuation, as you put together your economic and VP producing engine while competing with your opponents for cards at the auctions and trying to acquire them at the minimum price. There are multiple strategies and I have seen a whole bunch of them work. You really need to be on your toes to win, but the game plays so smoothly that it is both fun AND intense. Terrific move by JKLM to bring this fantastic design to the gaming world. This is a great, great game and I think it will be a big seller for you. Thanks again!

When I first played Phoenicia, I enjoyed it, but not so much as Outpost (which inspired Phoenicia). However, after playing Das Zepter von Zavandor, I came to realize the Phoenicia stands on its own much better than I’d first given it credit for - I like DZvZ less than Outpost, so it went and Outpost stays, but I will be picking up Phoenicia as it’s far more independent. In addition, I believe Phoenicia will have a far broader audience than Outpost, as Tom’s done a really good job in simplifying the math and (again, unlike DZvZ) concentrating the experience.

Brian Bankler dit:
A streamlined version of Outpost (or Scepter von Zavandor) that trims out a several fiddly details. In particular, there’s only a single currency deck, and the cards in it do not vary much. That one change probably cuts the game time by a third. I’ll be picking this up when it comes out.
Rating based on 5-10 plays of the prototype.

* “Phoenicia”:

* “Race for the Galaxy”: http://www.boardgamenews.com/index.php/boardgamenews/comments/game_preview_race_for_the_galaxy_designer_preview_1/

Doublon involontaire
