Financial Statement

This is perhaps the single most important update to this Kickstarter, but undoubtedly will not be the last one. With this update we are releasing our financial statement, which discloses the expenditures related to this project. We appreciate how patient you have been with us getting this out there, and apologize for how long it has taken us to release this. The link and password are listed below.

When we first created this Kickstarter our original goal was to produce the game at a much smaller volume and in quality of materials which would not be equivalent to the superior materials we have invested in with regard to the miniatures and their production. We also did not anticipate that this project would have been as warmly received as it was, so our goals in the beginning were naturally much more modest. As the campaign went on, we saw the opportunity to produce our miniatures to much higher standards than are usually attributed to mass market gaming, and so we made the choice to take the high road in this area.
Another thing we must also consider is that we were unaware of how much work and development the game itself would take, as it became clear through the backer-based beta testing that a majority of the people who backed this project wanted a better gameplay experience than was available at the time we sent out beta copies of the game. In order to produce a game worthy of this Kickstarter, many hundreds of hours of play testing, internal development, generation and balancing of numbers and visual development were required to bring the game to the more elaborate, precise AND playable state in which it exists today. Also, we were faced with securing art assets for many of the cards, which required us to issue contracts for the creative works needed to fulfill the art requirements of the game. It also became clear to us during the project that there was a general dissatisfaction with the design of the cards, resulting in major overhauls of the initial card designs and in the design and redesign of components within the game. The bottom line was, we heard your concerns with the design and structure of the game, and therefore rebuilt them to a standard worthy of your contributions.
It is imperative now that we address at what point this project has arrived. The miniatures are in production. The beta testing has been completed. We have secured and are securing the final art assets. The game has been completely retooled and reimagined. The only thing hampering us getting this to you is our options for producing the non-miniature elements of the game, namely the cards, the play mats and the tokens and other components. To determine the best way forward we will be asking you very soon via survey about how best to proceed with this project.  Please stay tuned for more on this important subject.

et ça “The game has been completely retooled and reimagined.”
